
An advanced course to prepare the experienced yachtsman or yachtswoman for command .for a motor or sailing yacht up to 60 miles offshore in all weather conditions and in day and night.

Introduces the student to:
• How to use the radio – voice procedure
• What it can and can not be used for
• How radios work
• Emergency procedures – Mayday, Pan Pan and Securite
• Emergency electronic location devices – EPIRBs, PLBs and SARTs
• Licencing and radio law.
Course Details
This course can be taught face to face but most students elect use the interactive online course that enables them to study in their own time at their own pace using the RYA VHF Handbook (G31) and the online material.
Once confident the student takes a multiple choice test online which on passing subsequently followed by a face to face practical test with one of our examiners.
On successful; completion the student is then qualified for a restricted user short range VHF certificate
